5.9.26 Showers for all. Determination. Tacos. More Tacos! Palouse. Mulching Party.
Retired/Missionary Life. Monday.
It was supposed to be Revlimid Day. The day we stay home and wait for the FedEx dude to show up with Hanna's deadly cancer pills. They MUST be signed for. Well, he came, knocked (probably very softly....) left a note, and went back to town with the drugs still in his truck. We didn't hear him. (Did I mention I have a hearing test appointment this week???) Thankfully, Del also delivers for FedEx, just not out here, and he will grab the box and deliver it to us later personally.
Today we planned our chaotic week, created scrumptious menus, put together a detailed grocery list, typed it into the Safeway App, pressed submit, and watched money pour out of our bank account, just like that.
Hanna also showered the pups. Gussy looks annoyed while Frivvy is trying to hide himself behind Hanna because he knows he is next.
They do not like my RC CyberTruck! They try to attack and kill it every time it comes out!
Late afternoon, we headed to town to attend a "he just released" party for the Butlers who we have spent the past year working with over housing. Great Italian dinner with even greater company!
Beautiful Palouse drive both there and back.
And back home, we attended the weekly All Mission Zoom call where testimonies were shared, announcements were made, and counsel was given. I think I got all the mighty Spanish Missionaries in the same shot!
Finally, critter at the Highlands. Very cool. Always.
Retired/Missionary Life. Tuesday.
First off, a couple of cool pictures of Gus being very obedient and staying within the boundaries of the invisible fence even though his favorite human is outside the boundaries. Good Boy Gussy!!
District Council with our awesome Spanish District of Missionaries was first. 18 hard-working missionaries counseling together! See the picture of our leader and his two new trainees telling us how their week went.
Lunch with the Wildings at The Chalet.
Spanish Lesson at our Tutor's house with the Elders we serve with. Today we learned estar vs ser. We all learned from it, even the missionary from Peru!
Great picture of our Elders heading back to work to find someone to teach the Gospel. They look determined!!
And we dropped off some missionary's stuff at the Mission Office. Long story, but his stuff was left in Libby Montana while he is now serving in Seven Mile. It somehow ended up in our truck while we were in Libby Saturday. All in a day's work.
Retired/Missionary Life. Wednesday.
Big Events today:
- I visited my audiologist. She ran a variety of tests and..........she says my hearing is just fine for my age, regardless of all the loud rock n roll, driving tractor without protection while a teenager, and shooting guns. She told me to focus more, stand closer to folks, and put my back towards the background noise. But no hearing aids. I guess that is good news, bad news.....
- We worshipped in the temple.
- We went out for tacos for dinner.
- We visited with the Bishop of our "home" congregation.
No worries, tomorrow will be busier..........
Retired/Missionary Life. Thursday.
Today was KEEP HANNA ALIVE DAY!!
Trip 1 to downtown Spokane was made so she could visit an ENT Doctor to discuss side effects she is struggling with from the cancer and the treatments. Helpful diagnosis and plans were provided. While she was in there having fun, the dogs and I took a nice walk around Comstock Park where we met tons of other puppies. I also got some of my reading done.
Back home for lunch. And then....
Trip 2 was to Post Falls for the monthly immunotherapy infusion to kill those nasty cancer cells. We also visited with our practitioner and went over the latest monthly test results and possible changes to treatment plans we may need to make.
That was all pretty stressful. Solution to that? Eating tacos with the Sister Missionaries we serve with! They always cheer us up and fill us with the spirit. And we needed that today. Plus........well........TACOS!!
It was a beautiful day out to make two trips to the medical facilities. Lake CDA was fun to gawk at on the way home.
Retired/Missionary Life. Friday.
Our Stewards that cover the missionary apartment inspections in the Pullman and Moscow area had some health issues and couldn't do the route. We're their back up. So, we put together a bunch of plates of cookies and off we went across the Palouse. MISSIONARY ROAD TRIP!!
We visited three apartments in Pullman, ate sack lunches, then visited another three in Moscow. Walked on the Moscow side of the Latah Trail with the boys.
The missionaries are happy to be missionaries and to be serving. They love Jesus. And in one apartment, their Easter Tree was still up! (Soon to be changed to a 4th of July Day Tree.....).
As usual, the Palouse turned out to be a very scenic drive with lots of farm machinery out working.
Everyone passed.
Enjoy!
Retired/Missionary Life. Saturday.
A busy missionary day!!
We inspected three more apartments in the Spokane Valley. All passed (of course) and the missionaries were enthusiastic and full of the spirit! We took a couple of pictures in the apartments of things that looked cool and organized!
Lunch was sack lunches (again). And we walked the Centennial Trail a bit in between some of the visits. (Hanna's phone is acting up, so no cool pictures of the dogs pulling me around were taken. Sad...)
Afternoon was spent with the other six missionaries in our Congregation providing service to a single sister who doesn't get around too well any more. It was a mulch spreading party!
Afterwards, we met up with Del and Ella and his parents and sister for dinner at that red bird burger place. Fun times with great food.
We are exhausted! Not much scheduled this next week. Hoping to get some stuff around the house done, including yard work, and to get some rest!
