5.2.26 Highlands. Zone conference x 3. Road Trip.

 Retired/Missionary Life. Sunday.

Happy Sabbath!! Here! Have a Jesus Picture! He LOVES YOU!!
Sunday started out as usual. Sacrament Meeting. Men's Meeting. Missionary Correlation Meeting. All great meetings with great people in them.
But then we changed things up. Once home and after lunch and a nap, we packed up the Wrangler and headed for the Stewart Highlands! And we made it in! First time we've made it up there during the month of April! (Accomplished, right??)
Our supply of fire making stuff was not there, which really was a bummer. (We think it got put in the "return to the house" box by accident last time we were up here. So no warm fire. But we made the best of it. Took a bunch of pictures. Changed out the bait in the yellowjacket traps. Read. Ate sandwiches for dinner. Watch a storm come through and mostly miss us. Admired the view. And then came back home.
Another great day on the Palouse!

The big deal today was a great dinner and testimony lesson with the other Senior Couples in the mission. Great folks we serve with!
It ran late and we start Missionary meetings early in the morning, so we checked into an Airbnb.
And then we joined the weekly mission Zoom meeting just before bed time. I didn't get pictures of any of it (the mission Photographer took some, but they ain't posted yet.) But Hanna got a picture of a tractor and critter cam took a bunch of pics too last night. Enjoy!!

Retired/Missionary Life. Tuesday.
We spent the entire day at Missionary Zone Conference. Mission cars got inspected, inspirational talks were given, role plays were practiced, lunch was served.
They had some super antique Books of Mormons there, one signed by Joseph F. Smith. Got a picture of us holding an original Book of Mormon.
Fun and uplifting times to be surrounded by so many dedicated young missionaries and so many consecrated senior couples!

Retired/Missionary Life. Wednesday.
Guess what? We went to Zone Conference AGAIN!! Yes, two days in a row! Yesterday's was in North Spokane and included our Spanish District. Today's was in Spokane Valley. We were there because our apartment Stewards also attended. We had a meeting with them and they handed out awards to missionaries who had clean apartments for four transfer periods. Great times!
Afterwards, we went for a walk on the Centennial Trail with the pups. And we worshipped in the temple.
Evening was spent watching a pre-recorded football game. UCF at BYU. We never really got a "recreation time" on Monday, so we took it tonight.
Guess what we're doing tomorrow? Yes, yet another Zone Conference.......

Retired/Missionary Life. Thursday.
Third straight day of Missionary Zone Conferences! This time in Post Falls with folks from Lewiston, Bonners Ferry, Sandpoint, Hayden, CDA, and, well, Post Falls.
- While in Idaho, we filled up with cheap gas.
- We knew we were definitely in Idaho when we pulled into the church parking lot, saw the usual line of missionary vehicles waiting to be inspected and maintained, and noticed that a bunch of them were TRUCKS!! (Some of these missionaries get to drive precarious roads.....)
- Our Idaho Stewards were there. Some drove all the way from Kooskia and Lewiston to join us! Consecration and dedication!
- We ran back into Washington to meet our Elders at the Spanish Tutor's Place to get a lesson. We focused hard and learned A LOT!
- The lesson was on Indirect and Direct Object Pronouns. (I have no idea what that means even in English!)
- Double whammy, next we met the Sisters we serve with for dinner at that Fancy Like Restaurant. Great food and great company! All of these six missionaries we serve with work so hard, are so dedicated, and are doing good work. It's a total pleasure to serve with them!
- And then some random pictures that have nothing to do with today. A picture from last Monday's Senior Missionary pot luck and meeting at the Mission Home. (Can you find us in there??) And critters have found their way back to the Highlands already even though we left our scent (and the scent of two canines) all over the place. (There is great grass there.....)
-- Enjoy!

Retired/Missionary Life. Friday.
Missionary road trip!!
Today's task was to travel to our Airbnb in Troy Montana so we're there to visit area Missionary apartments tomorrow. Task accomplished!!
We stopped for a walk in Banners Ferry and also ate a steak dinner once in Troy.
As an introvert, I was exhausted after FOUR straight days attending large group meetings. Today we talked to no one except our waitress. I feel much better now!
Below are some pics of Zone Conference. Can you find us?

Retired/Missionary Life. Saturday.
We woke up to find ourselves in an Airbnb in Troy, Montana! Ah yes. More missionary apartments to visit!
First, omelettes at the local cafe. (We can do old folks go to breakfast pertneer anywhere....)
And then the inspections and gawking at the cool stuff in their apartments.
On the way home, we stopped at Dominick and Alisha's and hung out with our grandkids. Louis and I played a bit of baseball, climbed on rocks, and checked the water in culverts (all guy bonding stuff...) while the girls took a hike and checked out a cool fort.
We took a walk on the Centennial Trail at Lake CDA.
Busy day and we're glad to be back home.
