3.7.26 Haircut. Poop. Police. No Taxes! Skittles.
Retired/Missionary Life. Sunday.
HAPPY SABBATH!! Here! Have a Jesus Picture! He LOVES you!
- We went to church. Sacrament Meeting. Sunday School. Missionary Correlation Meeting.
- We came home and had "everyone on your own" lunch. (This is not as chaotic as it sounds since there is only two of us. I had a tomato and salmon salad.)
- Nap time.
- Reading time.
- Movie time. We watched another great football movie. Radio. It's worth watching.
Hope you all had a great Sabbath!
Retired/Missionary Life. Monday.
The rest of our week is packed and we won't be home, or will be home but with guests, the rest of the week. So, we stayed home today, even though it was our normal day to go to Plummer.
- Spent the morning reading and studying and preparing.
- After lunch, we planned out our chaotic week, made up delicious menus, created a detailed shopping list, typed it into the Safeway app, pressed "submit" and watched money disappear from our bank account.
- Did up the family books and issued official financial reports to Hanna so she can see for herself that we won't outlive our retirement funds.
- It got over 50 in the afternoon, so that is when we went for our walk.
- I got a hair cut. I even took a picture. Even though for a guy it is an act of personal hygiene...
- In the evening, we watched a pre-recorded football game. N Dakota vs Montana. Great game played by guys who play for school pride, not for money. The Grizz won by one on a last minute touchdown. (The dogs were super bored with the game....)
- Before bedtime, we participated in a mission-wide Zoom Family Home Evening where several missionaries testified and we received counsel from our Mission Leaders.
- And finally, a deer visited the Stewart Highlands.
Retired/Missionary Life. Tuesday.
- Attended Weekly Missionary District Council Meeting with all the other Spanish Missionaries we serve with. Found out the other Senior Missionary there also served in Chile, although he is a bit older than me and in his day it was the "Andes" mission and included all of Chile, Peru and some other countries. Concepcion was only a branch then.
- Sack lunches in the truck in the church parking lot while the boys watched closely.
- Taught a lesson to a man who is preparing for baptism.
- Walked the dogs on the Centennial Trail. (My apologies for Frivvy's deciding to poop in public and Hanna for taking a picture of him doing so.....)
- Other pictures of police doing something and Gussy with his head out the window.
- Hanna paid her sister a visit while I read.
- We remembered to pick up the groceries before leaving town.
- And we read in the evening.
Tuesdays are always a long day.
Retired/Missionary Life. Wednesday.
First, a reminder of what I DIDN'T do today. TAXES. I kind of miss it a little, but not much. Retired life is blissful! And yes, I still need to finish up my own taxes. The draft shows me owing $14 which really pisses me off. I need to find just another $140 in deductions to make it go away!
- I made up Taco Omelettes for breakfast.
- We walked in the morning because I could see a lot of rain coming. And I was right, it rained all day long after we got back. I read and studied. The boys laid around. (The dogs are retired too!)
- We ran to town to worship in our temple.
- Once back home, we had a phone call meeting with our District Leader to set goals and go over goals. Hey...I have no problem answering to a 19-year-old! He's responsible, totally in and committed, is doing a lot of good, and is a long ways from home.
Retired/Missionary Life. Thursday.
TODAY'S MISSION: Drive to Troy, Montana! MISSIONARY ROAD TRIP!!
We saw lots of cool, beautiful sites.
We went for a hike at Ross Trail near Bull Lake.
We arrived at our AirBnB without problems, and then ate steak to celebrate.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
Tomorrow we will inspect missionary apartments in Libby and Bonners Ferry and come back home. The life of Senior Missionaries!
Retired/Missionary Life. Friday.
We woke up to find ourselves in Troy, Montana! We were hungry, so we immediately pronounced it "Old Folks Go Out To Breakfast Day" and went to the nearest diner to get some omelettes. We had the place all to ourselves. All the other old people must have slept in.
- Bought cheap Montana Gas!
- Inspected Missionary Apartments in both Libby and Bonners Ferry. The missionaries were cheery and happy and ready for a busy day. And their shoes looked perfect.
- On the way back, we stopped to see Dominick, Alisha, and our grandkids. They had just purchase ATVs and I got to guide the kids on a spin around part of the property. HUGE fun time!
- Cool sites to gawk at on the way home. Plus we stopped to find a Geocache in Hayden and drop a travel bug.
Now we are tired..............
Retired/Missionary Life. Saturday.
A day at home. Hot tub maintenance. Cleaning up the house a bit. Took the boys for a walk. And then Justin and the grandsons showed up. Taco bar for dinner along with Skittles Flavored Homemade Ice Cream. (Did you know that if you throw skittles into a pot with some water and turn on medium heat, it eventually turns into a delicious syrup??)
Once they were on their way home, we watched part of the remaining BYU game and saw them beat #10 Texas Tech. Fun to watch.
