1.17.26 Green Suits. Crazy. Entire Day Cancelled. Love Merger. ADVENTURE!!
Retired/Missionary Life. Sunday.
Picture of the boys taking over the bed early in the morning when they thought it was too early to be up, but we were getting ready for an early morning meeting.
Branch Council Meeting. Sacrament Meeting. Men's Meeting. Missionary Correlation Meeting. Met my twin at the church (see the picture below...) Lunch in the truck while the dogs watched carefully (Mine was a taco meat sandwich). Read some. And then taught a lesson.
We arrived back home (Hanna thought the trip home was beautiful) just as Del and Ella also arrived there. We had breakfast for dinner and talked a lot about work, family, church, and life. Ella took several pictures of Gus and Frivvy doing their thing.
Retired/Missionary Life. Monday.
Today was Revlimid Day. We were grounded to the house until the FedEx Dude showed up with Hanna's expensive and deadly chemo drugs that must be signed for. Once he got here, we escaped.
While waiting, we planned out our busy week, made up scrumptious menus, created a shopping list. And when we escaped, we went to Red Tail for some Book of Mormon Rummy and Salads. Then we walked on the Trail of the CDAs (real nice, about 50 out today!) bought the groceries, drove home, unpacked and put away.
I also prepared four lessons that are to be taught tomorrow. And we put together inspection assignments for our Housing Steward Missionaries. 194 missionaries living in 60 apartments to be inspected by 14 Stewards. From Kamiah to Libby, from Silver Valley to Cheney, from Colville to St Maries.
And....we ended the night with a mission-wide Zoom meeting to hear testimonies of departing missionaries and counsel from our Mission President.
That's all.
Retired/Missionary Life. Tuesday.
District Council was first. I got to teach a lesson on how to support your companion. I used the Scouting Potato Game and it went over real well. We were having so much fun with the younger missionaries that we failed to take a picture of them and their new potato friends. (If you can make friends with a potato, you can make friends with anyone, especially your companion...)
By the time the meeting ended, the first two lessons had rescheduled due to conflicts. No problem, we still had a couple set up for evening. So, we ate sack lunch sandwiches in the truck parking lot while the boys watched closely. Then went down to the Centennial Trail for a hike. The river is high and fast right now and fun to watch.
Back at the truck, we found that the other two lessons had rescheduled too. Oh well. So, we went back home.
I took a nap and then spent the rest of the night reading and such since that had been neglected since about last Friday. Hanna put together a new desk she bought.
And here! Have a decent looking Palouse Sunset! Enjoy!
Retired/Missionary Life. Wednesday.
Reading, studies, updating reports, paying bills, going on walk with the dogs (perhaps their endless wrestling gives them enough exercise??).
In the evening, we went out to visit members of our congregation and teach. We had several great visits, including with one brother who hasn't been able to come to church in a loooong time but wants to come this Sunday.
Made it home in time to watch the 2nd half of the BYU game. They have an amazing team this year. Fun to watch.
Retired/Missionary Life. Thursday.
The day started with an extra foggy drive into Post Falls where we visited our good friends at the Cancer Clinic. Good friends or not, they jabbed Hanna several times with needles to draw blood, test it, deem her healthy, and then infuse her with cancer killing immunotherapy drug. No worries! She was happy! Another 28 days of health, happiness, & life!
After some errands, we took the boys for a walk on the Centennial Trail. Hanna then visited her sister for a while why I picked up random groceries that we can't get in Plummer and did my reading.
We took the Sister Missionaries we serve with ouy for dinner (we forgot to take any pictures....dang it!) and afterwards, went and helped teach a lesson with them. We love this work and these Sisters so much! They have so much faith, enthusiasm, and strength and are going to be real successful.
Always an adventure. Near our home, we came across an informal, impromptu neighborhood meeting in the middle of the street. (we love life in a small town). One of the neighborhood teens missed their street and tried to turn around later, drove into the muddy shoulder, buried the family car up to the axels in Palouse mud. (Never ever try to drive in the Palouse mud. It eats vehicles of all sizes.) They pulled him out quickly and it was all amusing and entertaining. (Dang kids....)
And TODAY marked the one-year anniversary of receiving our mission call! I noticed that it didn't mention any particular language thus leaving it open to any language. We didn't notice that when we first read it. No problem, we are settling into Spanish slowly but surely.
And finally, here! have a family of deer at the Highlands!
Retired/Missionary Life. Friday.
We walked through the Rockford Cemetery afterwards. Always keeping the boys happy (plus we both can use the exercise...)
Got stuff done around the house. (After study time.) Dusted the place top to bottom. Took some more Christmas Stuff downstairs to storage. Cleaned the kitchen. Took care of some financial stuff that needed taking care of. (One needs to ensure that one outlives their money...) Made up a batch of delicious Stewart Stew.
In the evening, we watched the football flick "Invincible." A great true life movie featuring a huge underdog. And the Eagles, which is all we're going to get to see of them the rest of this season.....
And I posted a post from 12 years ago when we were at a High School Career Fair and had a great experience. Proof that we actually did have jobs at one point. #makelovenotwar
Retired/Missionary Life. Saturday.
The main gig today was going to the temple to worship. They have a Spanish Worship Session once a month and tonight was the night. We loved seeing members of our Congregation in the temple!
To experience real excitement today, you had to be a dog. Story 1: they begged to go out. We have an invisible fence. It usually keeps them in. Today it only worked half-way. Frivvy escaped and only got a low-level beeping warning. (I saw him on the front porch instead of the back porch and was LIKE WHAT????). Gussy was still in. But getting into my app to see what happened, it looks like Gussy tried to follow him and he got zapped good. (I found him on the back porch....) ADVENTURE!!! So, yes, time was spent today making sure the system works, signing back into the app on my phone so I'll actually get a notification If someone tries to get out, turning up Frivvy's sensitivity so he'll feel it if he does this again, and moving the GPS markers so the fence is a bit tighter to the house where he got out.
And then, story 2, they got attacked by a Shepherd that himself had escaped from his own yard! He ripped off Frivvy's halty, but other than that, no harm done. ADVENTURE!!! But boys were pretty riled up though and pulling like crazy. (I think both of my arms are still in their sockets....). I used to carry Pepper Spray just for these sorts of issues, but never had to use it, so stopped. I'll have to dig it out now.
