11-29-25 Lots of Protein. Brrrrrrrrr..........
Retired/Missionary Life. Sunday.
Sacrament Meeting today included the annual Primary Program in which the children in the congregation give talks, sing songs, and teach us about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Very nicely done and very touching.
And then Priesthood or "Men's Meeting". I was asked to give the lesson today. It was a good experience. Sometimes, actually a lot, I feel inadequate in this missionary thing, especially when it comes to speaking Spanish. I can't hardly remember words in English, now Spanish?? But the lesson went really well and I was given quite a few compliments on it, which I needed. God knows our hearts and our capabilities and blesses us to fulfill those.
Missionary Correlation Meeting after that. We were able to teach five lessons last week, the Sister Missionaries were able to find nine new persons to teach, and the Spanish Elders brought a new person to church for the first time. We were all excited!
Sack lunches were consumed in the truck in the church parking lot while Frivvy and Gus watched closely. And then we taught a lesson to a member of our congregation.
Back home, we did the usual reading, studying, and watching church videos.
We hope your Sabbath was fulfilling. And that you enjoy the Jesus Picture!
Retired/Missionary Life. Monday.
In the morning, I did my studies, reading, stretching, walking the dogs. Plus I paid some bills and got the family books updated.
In the afternoon, we ran to town. Dropped white shirts and two suits off at the cleaners. Then spent the evening with 23 other Senior Missionaries eating a fine dinner at the Mission Home and participating in a Thanksgiving-themed fireside chat and discussion.
Quote for the day: "You are as happy as you are grateful."
Retired/Missionary Life. Tuesday.
Early afternoon, we ran to town and taught a lesson on the importance of partaking of the Sacrament each week.
Lunch at IHOP. We hadn't been there in years and we found that they have Gluten Free Pancakes! Hanna was excited and they were delicious and we will be back regularly.
Picked up groceries. Gawked at the cool Nutrition Insights. Protein for the win!!! Vegetables gave them a good run.
Walked with the boys on the Centennial Trail.
Parked at the church and studied Spanish before teaching two more lessons. (One included a scrumptious Enchilada dinner!)
It snowed all the way home, but wasn't slick yet. Looking forward to what it looks like outside in the morning...
Retired/Missionary Life. Wednesday.
We had no one to teach today and didn't feel like dropping in on members of our congregation on Thanksgiving Eve was a good idea, so we took a break from everything. Kind of.
First, we slept in. Life with no alarm clock blaring is blissful!
After a taco omelette breakfast, we did our studies, stretches, Spanish lessons, etc. After lunch, I took the boys for a walk. I didn't want them muddy, so we drove down to the park and walked on the nice sidewalks of downtown Fairfield. This IS really a nice town to hang out in. We need to walk downtown more often.
And then I got some energy, so hung, hooked up, timed, and took pictures of the Thanksgiving Lights. (These are the magic kind that automatically turn into Christmas Lights on Friday...). All that is missing now is a nativity to be set up outside and to put the tree up. Plus lighting up our new little pine tree we planted last Spring. (That will make it really happy!)
Hope ya all have a great Thanksgiving tomorrow. There'll be eight of us here dining on a big bird with all the trimmings!
Retired/Missionary Life. Thursday.
1. This is what happens when you don't leave the house. The boys bring all their toys out.
2.We told Frivvy that Justin and Del and Ella and Searsha were coming. He got really excited, kept looking out the window for them, and then napped by the door so he wouldn't miss their arrival.
3. Lots of pictures of people doing their Thanksgiving Thing, including a delicious pie.
Grateful.
Retired/Missionary Life. Friday.
Afternoon: Drove into town for temple Worship.
After that: We treated the Spanish Elders and the Spanish Sisters that serve in our congregation to Tacos at Taco Time. Eight of us total. Deliciousness.
Evening: We worked on Hanna's talk, watched the last few minutes of BYU's basketball game, and then an episode of Heartland. (They finally got married...)
And there's still a buck hanging around the Highlands although we haven't seen the Bull Elk in quite a while.
Retired/Missionary Life. Saturday.
But first, we were hungry. So we declared it "Old People Go to Breakfast" Day and drove to Plummer for some meat lovers omelettes. And to hike on the very cold Trail of the CDAs. (24 degrees with a fairly stiff breeze). Filled up with cheap gas.
And then off to Pullman to watch the Cougs beat up on the hapless Beavers. Regardless of the blow out (and the cold), it was a great time watching the game with Justin and the Grandsons. This may become an annual tradition.
Subway for dinner.
