8.23.25 Who Me??? Missionary Jenga. Critters!

 Retired/Missionary Life. Sunday.

Happy Sabbath! Here! Have a Jesus Picture!
Today's line up: Sacrament Meeting, Sunday School, Missionary Correlation Meeting. We were going to go teach a lesson, but it rescheduled. So, we sat in the truck and ate sack lunches, read, studied Spanish, and watched some church videos. And then we ran out to Elk and visited with Del and Ella and Justin and this included a bunch of pets.
Hope your Sabbath was good. If not, let me know and I'll make sure it's better next week! We have a great congregation!

Retired/Missionary Life. Monday.
Some folks have asked about our schedule. There's a lot of leeway with Senior Couples and their schedules, we're not like the younger missionaries who have a pretty fixed schedule. We decide and work on our own. But, we try to spend three days working with our congregation (mostly teaching), one day working on housing stuff, one day for temple worship, and then two days left for personal stuff, medical appointments, preparation, recreation, and family visits. Some times it gets convoluted and one day's plan runs into an other day's plan.
Anyhow, today was a preparation and recreation day.
It started out by taking all three critters that reside in our house to the Vet for checkups and shots. All three are doing well. Except Gus has gone from five pounds overweight to ten pounds overweight! Even on his diet! A more stringent diet for him. Poor guy. See how the boys behaved in the Vet's Exam room? (wrestling!).
Also, my new suit arrived. Forest Green. Matches my JEEPs. Beautiful, right? It fit perfectly so I ordered another one...Navy Blue. A missionary can really never have too many suits.
In the afternoon, lots of stuff around the house got done. Like paying bills, dusting the house top to bottom, organizing and putting stuff away. Hanna spent time in her flower garden, which she is quite proud of.
In the evening it was recreation time! We watched the prerecorded BYU Bowl game vs Colorado. I like both those teams and the field was loaded with talent. Great game to watch, even though it was a blow out.

Retired/Missionary Life. Tuesday.
The picture below is of Gus saying "Who ME????" Yes. Him. He ate ALL of Frivvy's food while we weren't watching and also chewed up Hanna's blanket. I felt like a horrible dog owner for a while. But then I got over it. It's what dogs do.
I've been writing this FB daily post thing for almost two years now. And yesterday, for the first time ever, I failed to explain in great detail how we planned our week, created menus, prepared a grocery list, and went shopping. But we did. On-line. And today after District Council, we actually picked the groceries up at the store.
So, District Council, which was very upbeat after the great training we received from our General Authorities last week. Then we were supposed to go to lunch with a fellow Senior Couple, but they couldn't do it today, so lunch was Subway. Afternoon, back at home, we put away groceries, prepared a lesson, took a nap, and did some reading. Our first lesson, which included dinner, cancelled, so we had some leftovers, then ran to town for the next two appointments, both of which went really really well. Tonight was a great night to be a missionary!
Our first lesson had a strong spirit to it as we bore testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith. Wanna know more about Joseph Smith? Messenger me. It's an incredible and marvelous story.
Hoping Gus has a better day tomorrow.....

Retired/Missionary Life. Wednesday.
Here! Have a cool, eery, creepy picture of a critter. Or critters. Just how many outlines of critters can you find in this picture?
Today was busy. We inspected one apartment (virtually), prepared a couple of lessons, and then taught four lessons, one of which included dinner with the Sister Missionaries we serve with.
Lots of good was done. (Teaching post-temple lessons are the best!) No pictures were taken. But you can gawk at the one below.
Have a good night!

Retired/Missionary Life. Thursday.
Today, ladies and gentlemen, we look at the life inside a missionary apartment. But first, what we did today.
We drove to Plummer. And inspected the missionary apartment there. Then we drove to Post falls. And inspected the missionary apartment there. Then we drove to Rathdrum. And inspected the missionary apartment there. Then we drove back to Post Falls where we met some "exmisioneras" as they call them in Spanish, that used to serve in our Congregation. We talked a lot about the people they served and we are now serving there. What their future plans are, and a lot of other stuff. Always a good time to be around these young, faithful servants, ex or not.
We also filled up with "almost a buck cheaper" Idaho gas while we were over there.
Now, what you've been waiting for, the pictures:
- The returned missionaries that are back for a visit.
- What the Post Falls missionaries were doing when we arrived to inspect their apartment. ("Hey, we must pose......")
- Not sure what he is making for lunch, but it looks creative.
- Dr Pepper Jenga. Tasty and fun.
- Every Elder apartment (the Sisters seem to hide theirs...) has a very organized display of huge shoes.
- Jesus watches over them.
- Cheap gas.
Enjoy!

Retired/Missionary Life. Friday.
First thing, we conducted a virtual apartment inspection for the missionaries in Libby, Montana. Old people go out to breakfast was next, at Harvest Moon. Things got exciting when a family brought their dogs in. Life in a small town. We love it here. And we should take the boys with us sometime.
After that, we declared it Critter Day. See the 41 pictures. A family of elk were hanging out at the Highlands. Suddenly they are all looking to the left. And then they leave. And then a BEAR runs through! We also went to the Davenport Fair. Yum! Fair food for dinner and then the Rodeo. Nothing more American and Patriotic than a small town fair. Enjoy all the pictures of critters beating up on humans.

Retired/Missionary Life. Saturday.
We woke up to find ourselves in an AirBnB in the little town of Davenport, WA. We spent the night there after the rodeo. The boys loved the AirBnB and wrestled in it to show their appreciation.
After walks, microwave breakfast, and packing up, we headed back home. Ate lunch, showered, read a bit, then ran back to town to worship in the temple. And afterwards, we took the Sister Missionaries that serve in our congregation out Fancy Like. Always a great time to compare notes, goals, and work with them. We all love the folks in our congregation so much and get excited for their progress.
Also, pictures of last week's General Authority Mission Tour came out and we appeared in a couple of them. Enjoy!
