7-19-25 Steak and a pink JEEP

 Retired/Missionary Life. Sunday.

Happy Sabbath! Here! Have a Jesus Picture!
Branch Council Meeting. Sacrament Meeting. Men's Meeting. Missionary Correlation Meeting. Lots of meetings, but all good.
Ate a snack in the truck as we rushed off to teach a lesson. But, the mom and dad of the family had to leave. No lesson today for them. We then drove to another lesson and it came off and was good. These folks want to go to the temple.
Back at home, we read, watched some church videos, watched an episode of The Chosen, and ate popcorn, Reeses, and some leftover soup.
Also, here! Have some pictures of critters up at the Highlands. A moose AND a huge elk, just in different pictures. No wildlife had been seen since we camped up there with the grandkids a few weeks ago. We must have scared them all off and now they're coming back. Time to go camping again...

Retired/Missionary Life. Monday.
Preparation and Recreation Day.
I spent the morning doing my studies, walking the large puppies, etc.
Chores in the afternoon including cleaning the HVAC filter, adjusting the new virtual dog fence, preparing a lesson in Spanish, and then starting the planning for our Mayo Clinic trip in late September. We wanted to take the southern route through South Dakota, but the lodging really doesn't line up and there is no church anywhere between Rapid City and Sioux Falls to attend on Sunday. So the northern route via North Dakota it will be. 20 minutes more driving time on more 4-laners. Not a bad thing.
Evening was spent watching a prerecorded football game. TCU vs Baylor. (Christians vs Baptists...) Great rivalry game including a last second winning field goal.
Pictures include Frivvy and Gus doing their thing today and the grain field across the street. Just about time to start harvest, right? And a picture of the dishes. They kind of built up over the weekend. Hanna asked me to do two half loads instead of one really full load so they get more clean. Confusing. What does this mean? Load only the bottom or top of the dishwasher? Load only cups and silverware in one load and bowls, plates and pans in the other? Or pull out her cool food scale and divide it all out by weight? Life is so confusing sometimes..............

Retired/Missionary Life.
Tuesday.
My cute dogs, resting on "their" couch.
Hanna's cute flower boxes out front. She puts a lot of work into them and the whole house looks nicer.
Old people need food day, so, you know the routine, right? Plan the overscheduled week, make yummy menus, create a detailed shopping list, drive to Plummer, eat salads and play Rummy, buy cheap Idaho gas, buy the groceries, drive them home, put them away. And yes, we saw lots of cool Palouse views during our drive.
And we bought the boys a new toy (last week's is already destroyed and gone.) They were thrilled and immediately started fighting over it.
I grilled up some Ribeye for dinner. Sometimes I can find a steak better than mine at a restaurant, but not often.
The evening was spent in town teaching lessons to folks in our Spanish Congregation. Two lessons. A third forgot and rescheduled. Missionary life...
And while in town, I witnessed the most complete immasculation of a JEEP I have ever seen. Someone painted it PINK!! Are you kidding me??? Sad, sad JEEP...

Retired/Missionary Life. Wednesday.
Well, the deadline for Stewards to complete their apartment inspections is Saturday. I sent out an Email reminder of this and had two Stewards respond back that they couldn't get their route done for various reasons. So, huge change of plans in our week, since we are the back up. This includes a road trip to Silver Valley. Eight apartments are out there waiting for us to inspect.
And then we declared today old folks go to breakfast day since we won't be able to the rest of the week. Off to Red Tail we went. Chicken Fried Steak and eggs and an omellette.
We studied a bit in the afternoon, but then left early so Hanna could get a haircut. To the bank. Picked up some stray groceries. And to the pharmacy for some drugs. (Interesting life us old retired folks have.)
We had three lesson appointments scheduled for tonight. Two cancelled and rescheduled. (Typical missionary work...) but the other was incredible. They fed us authentic taquitos and homemade salsa. DELICIOSA!!! They are latinos and very proud Citizens of the USA. He is third generation and she got her citizenship not long ago. And they want to go to the temple and were excited that we arrived to teach them and help them prepare.
Got home early enough for Hanna to make up some batches of Magical Heart Softening Cookies (thanks Ella aka Sister Stewart) to give out to the younger missionaries whose apartments we will inspect the rest of the week.
Busy/ocupado. But loving it!
Oh yes, the boys. They've already ripped their new toy apart. And the green laser pointer came out and then disappeared into the fireplace. They are still waiting for it to come back out.........

Retired/Missionary life. Thursday.
We changed up our schedule today so we could get the Hayden area inspections done. Left the house at 8am and drove to the Silver Valley. Got one there, and then three more in the CDA and Hayden area. Hanna took several pictures of the lake.
After all that, we met up with Dominick, Alisha and their kids for some time at the park and some burgers. There's a huge dice at the park. Someone tell me what this is please. And no, the correct answer is not a dice nor a huge metal box...
Went home in the evening and did our studies. Gussy and Frivvy tried to be lap dogs and mostly succeeded.
And Annie the cat loves the sun as much as anyone.

Retired/Missionary Life. Friday.
Found the below mess on the floor. Hmmm. Who could have done that? Gussy looks very innocent. Yup. Actually Frivvy did it.
Both boys excited to see me putting on my walking shoes this morning.
In the morning, we went to District Council. Then came back home for a quick lunch before heading back to town for appointments at the Chiropractor's for a massage, decompression, and adjustment.
And then we spent the evening in Elk with Del, Ella, Justin and Del's folks. A nice dinner of Hawaiian Haystacks and lots of visiting.
We failed to take pictures there except of their cat that made herself at home on the kitchen table, and of a hummingbird that flew in for a visit.

Retired/Missionary Life. Saturday.
Most of today was spent inspecting missionary apartments in the South Hill and Downtown Spokane areas for a Steward that is sick with Covid. See Hanna baking them cookies early this morning. And we even got a picture with some of the missionaries in their apartment. (Woo Hoo! The behind-the-scenes look at the life of a young missionary!)
Late afternoon, we worshipped in the temple along with several other members of our congregation. A man we have been teaching also went with us and did baptism work for his father who was murdered in Mexico many years ago. It was a sweet, tender, spiritual moment.
Scripture for today: "And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father!" Usually this scripture is applied to baptism, but certainly it applies to bringing folks to the temple as well.
Afterwards, we celebrated by eating tacos with the Sister Missionaries. We even took a picture of both! (Both tacos and sisters...)
Yesterday while we visited Del & Ella, we left the boys outside on long cables because their wasn't room in the tiny home. Apparently, they tried to get back into the truck, because this morning I noticed paw scratches on the truck. I just had prior scratches from taking it to the Highlands buffed out. Ugh.
Finally, here, have an awesome Palouse Sunset. I took two shots, but couldn't decide which was best, so I just posted them both. Enjoy!
