 Retired Life. Sunday.

The alarm went off early so we could make it to church on time. It was still dark out this week. Sad. And there were audible groans. But, we looked at the Jesus Picture below, remembered why church makes us happy (and safe), and got up out of bed and went.
After church, I took a nap. Then Del and Ella came over for a visit and dinner. BBQ Bacon Meatloaf, Bakers, Veggies, Fresh Hot Rolls.
We've been training Frivvy to go to his bed in the living room and sit and wait there when the front door knocks. He has been doing very well at it, up until now. He hadn't seen Del and Ella in a long time and got so excited! He couldn't contain himself, broke away from me, ignored his treat, jumped over the couch, and ran to the door to greet them. Dog training fail! But, they felt the dog love! So it ain't all bad.

Retired Life. Monday.
It was one of those days where the sun starts to set and you're questioning where the day went and why nothing got done.
It rained most of the day. There was about an hour between the rain stopping and the sun setting and I spent that on a walk with Frivvy. Other than that, we were indoors all day. Got a grocery order ready for pickup tomorrow, paid some bills, read, cleaned up the kitchen. In the evening we watched a prerecorded football game. The BYU vs Oklahoma State game. We had watched a couple of minutes of it live, especially the end. Tonight we watched start to finish.
AI drew a picture of rain on the Palouse for your entertainment.
Retirement. Blissful.

Retired Life. Tuesday.
Yesterday we realized we had appointments in town both today and Thursday. So, being the smart people we are, we rescheduled all our Thursday appointments and errands to today. It made for a long, tiring day, and we had to use an alarm (YUCK) to get up on time, but now we can say we're not going to town the rest of the week. And maybe we'll get some yard work done now. Oh, the challenges of retirement!
First up, we worshipped in the temple. Always a nice, relaxing time where revelation is received and decisions made.
Frivvy spent most of the day in the truck. But he likes it there. It's like a huge dog house, right?
Then we drove to CDA and had salads at Red Robin.
Then to Hanna's PT appointment. She wore her leg braces out again! They're going to find her some that are more durable. They glued this one back together for a temporary fix until we can get the new ones "casted" and ordered. Frivvy and I waited in the truck, reading a James Patterson book.
Then, fill up with cheap Idaho gas. $3.049.
Next, back to Washington to visit my Chiropractor for a Decompression and an Adjustment.
To the dry cleaners to get my suit coats cleaned and ready to be worn for winter weather.
Then to Lowe's to buy some Weed n Feed. (They had a ton of Christmas stuff out already. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!) (Can I eat the Halloween Candy now??)
Finally, to Safeway to pick up the Groceries we ordered last night on-line.
And the sun was setting as we pulled down the driveway...long day indeed.
We'll sleep well tonight. And can sleep in tomorrow if we want. Because we're retired and don't answer to a boss or any clients.

Retired Life. Wednesday.
I was feeling a bit under the weather today, so did a lot of hanging around the house.
You know, I can count the sick days I took during my 3+ decades of working my butt off on one hand. So, when I get a day like today, I get a little frustrated in all the sick days I could've had off but never took over the years. And now I get sick (a little bit) on my retirement day.
The highlights of today were:
1. The Nail Trim Dude came over and trimmed Frivvy's nails. He hates that and it takes three of us to get the job done. Hanna distracts him with peanut butter. I hold him down. And the Trimmer Dude holds a paw in one hand and trims with the other.
2. Some of our new food storage supply arrived. I like the buckets a lot and am hoping Hanna will let us eat some of it now just so I get one of the buckets to use. I'm guessing we'll have to wait until the Zombies attack before we see if it is tasty food or not. Trust, right?

Retired Life. Thursday.
Still trying to feel healthy again, so I chose indoor projects to work on. I got to weird stuff that had been put off forever. Like dealing with the County Treasurer who is still adamant that I pay property taxes on the assets of our accounting firm we sold two years ago. Scanning a ton of receipts of our stay in Sturgis, South Dakota due to truck break down to get reimbursed. Planning out an itinerary for January's trip to Chile. Almost like being at work, which didn't require much energy.
Here. Have some pictures of Frivvy playing with his orange ball.

Retired Life. Friday.
"Old people go out to breakfast" day! More like brunch. Harvest Moon in Rockford. Best part about this breakfast is that I didn't have to cook it.
Then we drove straight to the Stewart Highlands. Because we are retired and can just do stuff like that. We hadn't been up there in a long time. We set a goal this year to camp once a month up there plus go up every Sunday to read and hang out. We camped once. And went up on a Sunday once.
Today, we figured it was our last trip up before it snows. We winterized the portable camping toilet, emptied all the yellowjacket traps, and made sure everything was ready for winter. And then, just because it was so nice out and we're retired, we hung out and read and enjoyed the incredible view for a while. The project list didn't even get looked at and I really don't care.
Once back home, I whipped up a batch of Chicken Sweet Potato Stew and we watched the movie "Arthur the King." <SPOILER ALERT!!!> This was the first ever dog movie that I have watched where the dog did not die. I'm still traumatized from Old Yeller. And Where the Red Fern Grows. And I overprotect Frivvy. He's a good dog.

Retired Life. Saturday.
In with the new. Out with old. Our old furniture wore out. So I pushed it out the front door and into the driveway where it will sit until I get around to hauling it off.
And then the furniture store people brought us some new furniture to replace it.
I was tempted to just sit in it all day watching football to break it in. But the weather was good and stuff needed to be done outside.
So after a breakfast of French Toast, I went out and dragged all the hoses and sprinklers and etc. into the basement and then gave the lawn it's final mowing of the season. And weed whacked where needed. (It's supposed to snow by the end of the week...)
The BYU game may have been a slight distraction at times, but I gotter done.
In the evening, some friends came over for dinner and a visit. It's always nice to have visitors.
If you need me, I'll be in my new recliner...specially made for grandpas.
