A week at home. 10-5-24
Retired Life. Sunday.
The alarm went off crazy early so we could make it to church on time, and man, we were tired, and considered just sleeping in. But, we looked at the Jesus Picture below which reminded us of why church makes us happy, and crawled out of bed.
Sacrament Meeting. Then a Joint lesson on not judging others. After that, we met with our Bishop and started the paperwork to become missionaries.
In the afternoon, I read a bit, took another nap. And then we dug some leftover chicken soup from the freezer and ate it for dinner. It actually tasted quite good as it was a change from what we have been eating the past two weeks that we weren't home.
Back into town to attend a special Men's meeting. Back home, watched a church video and highlights from BYU's and ISU's games this week.
We endured a huge dust storm all day long. But when it finally lifted, this huge flock of birds descended onto our lawn. Hmmmmm.
Retired Life. Monday.
The goal today was to solve that huge problem of there being no food in the house. So, we planned our week, created menus, prepared a grocery list, placed an on-line order for the store in Spokane, and then, after playing basketball, showering, and having breakfast, we went into town.
Stopped at the bank. Ate salads at the diner. (Denny's has a Prime Rib Cobb that is pretty good. Hanna had a Salmon salad.) Then to the Chiropractor to get my back adjusted. Brooklyn and baby August met us there to visit during Hanna's wait. Picked up the groceries. Haircut. And then we hiked on the Centennial Trail for a bit. Back home. Unload and put away.
In the evening, we watched a prerecorded football game. Lots to choose from now that the season is in full swing. Colorado Baylor OT game.
And, the flowers below magically showed up in the grocery order. Today was Hanna's two-year anniversary of her Stem Cell Transplant. Her "rebirth". (That actually makes logical sense since they killed all her old blood and replaced it with new blood.) And a note that said "thanks for staying alive." Old people celebrate things like that often....
I'm blessed that she is still here.
Retired Life. Tuesday.
Here, have a picture of this morning's sunrise. I couldn't sleep, so got up, read, took this picture. And then went back to bed and slept in late. It felt good. We are both tired from our travels. And as retired folks, we can sleep in any time we want, without guilt. And as late as we want too.
Today was the first day in weeks that we didn't leave the house. That felt good too. Other than to visit a neighbor that needed some help and to play basketball.
Retired Life. Wednesday.
Weekly temple attendance. Our goal. Spokane temple is closed. So off we went to Moses Lake first thing this morning. Beautiful temple with powerful spirit and great reminder of covenants made.
Lunch at Bob's diner. Great steak cobb salads. Plus Hanna whooped me bad at Rummy.
Got back home in time to do some basketball, walk with Frivvy, and fix a batch of my southern fried chicken.
Retired Life. Thursday.
Old people breakfast out day. We went to Harvester. I had pancakes and eggs and bacon while Hanna had a mini Palouse Omelette.
We then took Frivvy for a walk in the Spangle Cemetery.
In the evening, we watched a prerecorded football game. Iowa v Iowa St. Great rivalry game.
I had AI draw a picture of me and Frivvy paying bills.
Retired Life. Friday.
Started the day fixing up a batch of French Toast.
In the afternoon, Justin and the Grandsons came up for a steak fry and movie night, including homemade blue berry ice cream.
Retired Life. Saturday.
In our faith, every six months we have what is called General Conference. Instead of attending out local congregations, we watch the leaders of our church give talks on TV. That's mostly what we did today and will do tomorrow. And we call it Pajama Church because we vegetate on the couch in our PJs and watch. AI drew a nice picture of us and Frivvy sitting on our couch in our PJs. Also, have a Jesus picture since most of the talks are about Him.
