 Retired/Missionary Life. Sunday.

HAPPY SABBATH!! Here! Have a Jesus Picture! He LOVES YOU!!
Sacrament Meeting. Men's Meeting. Missionary Correlation Meeting. Same old same old, but it's good.
It was a bit hot out to leave the puppies in the truck, so into their favorite crates they went for long naps. Frivvy cuddles up nicely and gets a pillow. Gussy likes sleeping with his paws in the air.
We stopped at the cemetery before coming home and put some flowers by Hanna's parents' grave. This is one of the coolest tombstones ever. Scouter, farmer, father, eternal husband. And they raised a lot of kids.
Once home, I took a long, long nap. Needed. Then did the daily reading and studying. Chill day.
And here, also have a picture of a young bull up at the Highlands.

Retired/Missionary Life. Monday.
Happy Memorial Day!
EVERY day is a holiday when you're retired.......thus we did nothing special. (We honored Hanna's vet Dad yesterday....)
We planned out our busy week. Created delicious menus. Put together a detailed grocery list. Drove to Plummer. Ate salads and played Rummy at The Gateway. Filled up with cheaper Idaho gas. Bought the groceries. Drove home. Brought it all in. Put it all away. Now I'm outta breath........
I also did up the family books, reconciled the various medical bills, paid others.
Read, studied, etc.
And watched a pre-recorded football game in the evening. Stanford at BYU. You could tell it was early in the season, but the right team won.
Mission-wide Zoom meeting just before bed.
HUGE FAIL! No pictures were taken. So I grabbed some just before posting. The puppies and Hanna are always photo-worthy. LIGHTNING outside tonight as per my cool app. (Is it safe to hot tub still?)
And young bull at the Highlands again. Not sure if it is the same one.....

Retired/Missionary Life. Tuesday.
- District Council Missionary Meeting. We were instructed. We gave counsel. And they called possible folks to teach. And, of course, they mingled.
- Lunch at The Chalet with the Wildings. We failed to take a picture of our food or of us which is embarrassing since he is the official mission photographer. (I had chicken fried steak and eggs and a side salad with ranch.)
- Spanish Lesson at the Tutor's home with our Elders. Perfect score for me! I'm finally getting this Spanish down a bit!
- Took a rainy walk on the Centennial Trail. The boys saw three rabbits which made them really excited. The trail was empty today.
- Back home, my package of ties arrived. I needed some new ones to wear with my green suit. I have a lot of blue and green colorful ties, but that looks way too loud with the green suit. I have a bunch of red ties too. But that looks too Christmassy. So, I needed some darker conservative ties to go with it. I'll model them soon....
- Last picture is of the cemetery from Sunday.
- Evening was spent reading and watching an episode of Heartland.
Hope your Tuesday was good and busy too! We love serving and helping out these enthusiastic young missionaries!

Retired/Missionary Life. Wednesday.
We scheduled today as a home and yard project day. We have no landlord like missionaries who live away from home, so days like this are needed fairly often.
Hanna spent most of the day rescuing plants and flowers in the gardin.
My list included unstopping the shower drain (DOG HAIR!!!!), hanging a new picture on our "temple wall" (It's the one on top, do you know what temple it is???), set up a bark control device on the deck to hopefully teach Frivvy to stop barking at everything (our neighbors will be grateful...), got out the lawn sprinklers and hoses and inventoried what we have and what we need and ordered that on Amazon. And spent a bunch of time trying to get our new scooters to fire up. We may have a battery warrantee/return issue. They won't stay charged for more than just a few minutes, they die. Appears it is a typical and common problem with this brand. Ugh. And I ran the Weed Trimmer for a while too.
I threw in a cool picture of Gus and Frivvy trying to be of help, but they really couldn't figure out what to do other than follow me around.
And a deer. Have a deer.

Retired/Missionary Life. Thursday.
It was going to be a hot one (and it was) so the boys and I ventured out early and walked in downtown Fairfield and its two parks.
Shortly thereafter, our plumber showed up. He fixed a leak in our pot filler and also moved an outdoor spicket from below the deck to on top of the deck. (That will make things easier for sure!)
We then ran to town and worshipped in the temple. And then ate tacos. And then met with our Branch President to see who in our congregation could use a friendly visit from us.
The storm hit on the way home and Fairfield was in the middle of it. More lightning than we've seen since we moved out here.
The boys were home in their kennels and were rightfully frightened. Frivvy howled at us when we got home (I still haven't figured out if he is chewing us out for leaving him or is telling us how happy he is to see us.....perhaps both...) Gussy was shaking so I held him for a bit and petted him. Then things were back to normal and they started play fighting once again. (We were a bit frightened too.........that was quite the storm!)
And then there was an Elk..................

Retired/Missionary Life. Friday.
MISSIONARY ROAD TRIP!! The Missionary apartments in Colfax and Troy, Idaho needed inspecting, so off we went. We love helping out these missionaries and keeping them safe! And it was a beautiful day for a road trip on the Palouse.
Once the duty was complete, we took a hike on the Latah Trail. This kept the boys very happy!
I heard back from the manufacturer of our nonoperational scooters. They are happy to help get them running. They asked that I take a video of what the scooters are doing exactly so they can diagnose it and decided what to do. So, I sent them the picture below. It IS a video, just one frame long. And it clearly shows that they are doing nothing, which is my complaint.....
Late afternoon, Justin and his boys (his boys are real live humans, unlike my boys, which are dogs, albeit cute dogs....) arrived. Together we whipped up some potato salad, some hamburgers, some hot dogs, some french fries, and some root beer flavored ice cream. Nummy!
Great news of the day is two of my grandsons are signed up for football this year! I can just feel a few trips to Pullman being necessary this fall.
Beautiful Palouse sunset to conclude the night.
And a picture of the usual wild critter searching for grass at the Highlands.

Retired/Missionary Life. Saturday.
We got up early and headed to town. First up was helping our Spanish Congregation clean the church. Hanna vacuumed the hall ways with the big vacuum while I vacuumed in between the pews in the chapel with the smaller one.
Then off to have brunch with my buddy August, and Luigi and Brooklyn. Very delicious breakfast casserole and we enjoyed our book.
Then off to take a walk on the Centennial Trail. The boys must have turned their cuteness factor up on high because we got stopped several times by passersby who wanted to pet and admire them. (My name badge didn't even frighten them off........)
We then hung out at the church for a while studying and reading.
And then off to Denny's to treat the Sister Missionaries in our congregation to dinner.
Finished up the night at Stake Conference. Best quote from the many talks came from our own Mission President (not surprising): "We need to shift our focus from being a human doer, to being a human being." He was talking about measuring our worth and success not by what we accomplish, but by who we become. (He's hoping we all become life-long disciples of Christ....)
We came out to see the temple all lit up and also a great sunset.
We spent over 12 hours out today.....busy day, but very fulfilling and fun! We love serving our younger missionaries (#nohungrymissionaries) and being grandparents and providing service ourselves.
