10.25.18 Book of Mormon Playing Cards, Who's spoiled?? BEAR ATTACK!

 Retired/Missionary Life. Sunday.

Happy Sabbath!! Here!! Have a Jesus Picture!

Sacrament Meeting. Sunday School. Missionary Correlation Meeting. Then went to teach a lesson and the family wasn't home.....were having car problems. Next week.

Excitement for missionaries today! A trio of Elders has been moved into and assigned to our congregation! They also serve in the congregation downtown, so they'll split time. So, we now have a total of EIGHT missionaries working in this little Spanish Congregation. Definitely fun times!

Afternoon was spent reading, studying Espanol, watching church videos, a nap, and then we watched a movie = Lil Angels. Cute meaningful movie. Worth the watch.

But overall, it was a cold, dreary, rainy day. Frivvy had the right idea...just stay under the covers.

Hanna's BYU flag was still looking great this morning. (I woke up this morning wondering how I can be married to a BYU alum for 13 years and still not have an official BYU tie to wear to church on days like today. One with Cosmo on it would be excellent!). (And my condolences to the Utes. We can still be friends......)

And for those of you who are wondering how my survivor elk is doing up at the Highlands.....here, have some pics of him still surviving. Today is the last day the neighbors will be up there. He survives today and he is a free bull.

Retired/Missionary Life. Monday.
Revlimid Day! The day when Hanna's expensive and deadly cancer-killing drugs arrive via FedEx and MUST be signed for. So, essentially we are grounded, which is not a bad thing.
We spent the morning studying, reading, and writing. Doing stretches, all those daily task sort of things.
Afternoon, after a walk with the boys, I paid bills, did up the books, submitted medical bills to Christian Healthcare Ministries, and also, so we don't starve to death, planned out the busy week, created scrumptious and delicious menus, prepared a detailed shopping list, typed it into the Safeway website, pressed "submit" and watched money drain from my bank account. They'll be ready to be picked up tomorrow.
In the evening, we were supposed to be working on Steward Missionary Housing Assignments, but the Church's housing portal was down, so...we watched a pre-recorded football game. The HOLY WAR!! Best rivalry ever! And a great game!
The baseball game was still going after that, so we watched the only team in all of baseball that hasn't gone to a World Series lose and not go yet again. (By the way, Hanna keeps losing to me at Rummy, so we have decided to change her nickname to Mariner...)
Before bed time, we will be involved in a huge Zoom Family Home Evening Meeting with the entire mission. Always a good experience. We love being missionaries and associating with the other missionaries, old and young alike.
Yes, that is a very old picture of President Oaks as Cosmo when he was President of BYU. He was Cosmo while he was a student there years earlier. Also, he is the second President of the church that is an Eagle Scout. (Howard W Hunter being the first.) Just some fun facts....

Retired/Missionary Life. Tuesday.
We started the morning with District Council, meeting with about a dozen missionaries to boost each other up, brainstorm ideas, and get educated. We then went and taught a lesson to a gal in our congregation who is preparing to go to the temple.
Lunch at Denny's. Prime Rib Salad. (Is that some sort of oxymoron?? It is delicious regardless). Check out our new Rummy Book of Mormon Playing Cards!
Took the truck to have its oil changed. I already have 45,000 miles on it......in 18 months. But, that is what it is meant for.....driving.
Picked up the groceries. See the cool Nutrition Insights. We bought more veggies than anything!
Taught another lesson to a man who just weeks ago wasn't sure how to pray. Tonight he volunteered to say the pray and said an awesome meaningful prayer.
And then we went to our Spanish Tutor's home for a Spanish Lesson.
Cool sunset happening from Sprague Avenue tonight.
And when we got home, my new Grisham book was waiting for me! It looks to be much better than the last couple he wrote.
Great day for missionary work! We love teaching lessons and meeting with the other missionaries.

Retired/Missionary Life. Wednesday.
Yup. I seriously only took one picture today. I entitle it "Spoiled Canines."
Spent the morning doing the usual reading, studying, etc. After lunch it was fairly warm out, so that is when Frivvy, Gussy and I went for our walk.
Then we all ran to town to teach some lessons. The first one cancelled due to a conflict. (More time to read and study), but the other two came off. One to a lady that just went to the temple for the first time. And another to a friend that just moved from our Congregation to a new one downtown. Making sure he transitioned fine, and he had. All's good.
Leftovers for dinner. And we felt like zoning out, so watched an episode of Heartland. They're back together (again) .....
I'll try to take more pictures tomorrow. Or at least delegate more to Hanna...

Retired/Missionary Life. Thursday.
Woo Hoo! Infusion day for Hanna. They drew a ton of blood. Deemed her healthy. We met with the doctor, no changes. Got the infusion of immunotherapy drug. All done.
Bought cheap Idaho gas. Picked up some drugs.
Met with the Sister Missionaries that also serve our congregation for dinner at Wendy's.
Met with the Branch President of the Congregation to discuss how the folks we are teaching are progressing.
And it was a nice beautiful fall day to drive into town on the Palouse.
That is all. And it was plenty.

Retired, Missionary Life. Friday.
Woke up to a beautiful fall day out. And then drove to town and worshipped in the temple. The boys love rides and waited patiently in the truck. We saw farmers still out working, dropping fertilizer.
Had a quick lunch, then drove the Wrangler up to the Stewart Highlands to see the sites and gather up the camping supplies before snow hits. We found that the bear we caught on our camera several times the past bit had attacked and destroyed our camping toilet. See the claw marks! And how he tore down the makeshift private bathroom we had put up!
Another tree is down, just about in the same place as the previous one. Great fall colors all the way in, while there, and back out. Great day to be outside in nature. And a great day to worship the Creator of all things, even bears.

Retired/Missionary Life. Saturday.
Busy day.
- Game Day had it right.
- Sadly, I already went through one case of Code Red Zero. Only one more left. And I hid it, just in case.
- Old Folks Go Out To Breakfast Day. Gateway. Hamburger Steak and Eggs. Some sort of omelette (Including Rummy with our cool Book of Mormon playing cards).
- Walked on the Trail of the CDAs. The boys love that trail. Hanna looks cool in a selfie.
-Bought cheap Idaho gas.
- The Sisters from our congregation came out to our home to provide some service. Which included giving Gussy and Frivvy some attention.
- We drove to Elk and had dinner with Del and Ella and Del's folks. Got caught in a massive downpour of a rainstorm, but a cool rainbow came out a bit later.
- And there was a lot of activity on the Highland's camera this morning. Strange critters up there yesterday indeed!
