9.27.25 Duck! Road Trip.
Retired/Missionary Life. Sunday.
Sacrament Meeting. Sunday School. Missionary Correlation Meeting. Our lesson for after church cancelled due to a work schedule. At home, we ate lunch, napped, watched part of the memorial service, read, and watched a Christian Movie.
Plus, Frivvy was so tired from playing with the grandkids yesterday, that he couldn't eat his breakfast.
And WHO emasculated my JEEP by putting a stupid duck on it??????
Retired/Missionary Life. Monday.
We were grounded to the house until the FedEx Dude showed up with Hanna's crazy expensive cancer killing Chemotherapy Drugs. One a day keeps the cancer cells away!
Things that happened today, some documented with pictures below.
- A critter wandered across our Highland's Camping Spot.
- I paid the bills and caught up the family bookkeeping.
- I placed grocery orders for our upcoming trip to Mayo Clinic. (One order for later in the afternoon, one for before we leave Minnesota, and one in Minot, ND.) If you remember from last year, I ordered 20 cases of delicious Code Red Dew Zero...(only can be found in Minnesota) and brought them home with me. Being a CPA, I calculated that I had about an 18-month supply. But no. I had to share. Grandkids, Children, and Children-in-laws all partook and it sadly ran about a few months back. So, can I restrain myself this year? Yes. I did. (So far) I only ordered two cases. But it still isn't too late to add more to the order if I can't suppress the cravings enough...
- After Mr. FedEx Dude showed up, we ran to town just long enough to give Annie the Cat to Del for safekeeping during our trip, drop off white shirts at the Cleaners, and pick up enough groceries to last us until we arrive in Minnesota next Monday.
- We turned to recreation in the evening, watching the pre-recorded come-from-behind win the Eagles planted on the Rams. #flyeaglesfly Except for Puka Nakua. We cheered for him too. He flies on his own...
Retired/Missionary Life. Tuesday.
Simple enough day. We got up early, ate frozen breakfast bowls, then drove to Moses Lake to worship in the temple. (Ours is still closed.) After worship, we went to Bob's Cafe, played some Rummy, and ate lunch. I couldn't resist the Taco Omelette and Hanna had the Steak Salad (want some lettuce with that steak???). You know the food's good if there is an old tractor out front.
The evening was spent studying Spanish, reading, studying.
Retired/Missionary Life. Wednesday.
We spent the evening studying and reading.
No pictures were taken today and the pictures from the Zone Conference have yet to be made public. But....I did take a picture of Gus and Frivvy hoping and waiting for something to jump out of the fireplace. Enjoy!
Retired/Missionary Life. Thursday.
Cancer Drug Infusion in the afternoon for Hanna.
Tacos for Dinner.
Evening meeting with our Branch President to go over plans for the folks we are teaching.
Below are also pictures of yesterday's four-zone conference. Can you find us in the pictures? The zones = Lewiston, Palouse (aka Pullman and Moscow) Spokane Valley (us!) and the Service Missionary Zone.
Finally, security camera picture of a wild critter at the Highland's.
Enjoy!
Retired/Missionary Life. Friday.
Today we started our annual pilgrimage to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for Hanna's annual cancer checkup. The goal today was to get as far as Butte, which we did. We also had a goal to leave home by 9am, which we missed by two hours. So, we arrived in Butte after dark. But it's all good because we are old retired people and have no set schedule today. Pictures:
- The boys saw us packing and reacted. Frivvy is immediately depressed and pouty. Gussy is excited for an adventure.
- We installed Justin's mini Starlink in between the roll bar and the plastic top of the truck. It receives signal beautifully and now we'll stay connected.
- The boys watched cautiously as we packed the truck.
- Hanna's good at Tetrus.
- We stopped at the top of Fourth of July pass for a walk. The boys were very happy!
- Our AirBnb did not have a microwave (it wasn't listed as having one, but we failed to read the list.) So, Hanna warmed up our leftover Mexican Food from last night in the toaster oven. It came out perfect and delicious.
Enjoy!
Retired/Missionary Life. Saturday.
We met some friendly folks in Butte who were excited to be going to Bozeman to watch Montana State's Football Game. They knew it would be a great game and that it was sold out, but couldn't tell me who it was they were playing. (Eastern..........and they killed them....)
We bought really cheap gas.
We stopped to find several cool Geocaches.
We took the boys for a walk at Riverfront Park in Billings.
And we had dinner at Wendy's.
